Advanced Photonix` Board Of Directors Has Unanimously Rejected An
Advanced Photonix' board of directors has unanimously rejected an
unsolicited and conditional takeover offer from OSI Systems. OSIS is a
direct competitor of API. The board is reviewing appropriate steps designed
to insure that the company can maintain its independence. Advanced Photonix
supplies silicon-based electro-optical products and designs to OEMs.
Products include patented Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD) and
FILTRODE detectors, as well as PIN photodiodes.
Among the facilities coming under the hammer at auctioneers DoveBid is an
R&D site owned by E-Ink. This US company has been developing "electronic
ink" displays that mimic the qualities of printed material since 1998. Also
up for grabs are facilities owned by assembly and test company Amkor and a
Motorola wafer processing fab.
Shipley is to acquire the technology, equipment, intellectual property and
remaining workforce of Haleos of Blacksburg, Virginia. Haleos produces fibre
optic components for a number of end uses, including optoelectronics.
Shipley was the successful bidder for the Haleos assets in a bankruptcy
court hearing. Shipley will pay $3.1mn for the assets.
